Creative inspirations

Posted by Vanessa Silva on 7/30/2011 03:17:00 PM

I love to see when great geniuses get together to make something amazing. Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie have been my fav artists almost since I was a child. Seeing performances like this one bring a joy to both “fanbases”:

And when artists inspire each others (specially when they are eachothers idols) is amazing. A great example is the video "Closer" from Nine Inch Nails due in 1994 inspired David Bowie's "Hearts Filthy Lesson" due in 1995 and we can tell that by only watching the way it was filmed.

A few years after that, around 2000, comes another NIN inspired video (with a touch of sarcasm in it, knowing that Marilyn Manson at that time didn't have the best relationship with Trent Reznor) So it's like a parody of the Closer video... But still inspired by NIN.

When we're talking about great geniuses we don't even say a video was “copied”/stolen, we only say it was inspired by/in a certain video, but since they're great musicians each one had a song that really fit the concept and the way it was shot without sounding the same and keeping their integrity.

Tell me about it: Which video do you guys like the most and why?

News about Trent Reznor's HBO Miniseries 'Year Zero'

Posted by Vanessa Silva on 6/24/2011 10:46:00 PM

Fight Club writer Jim Uhls has been tapped to write Trent Reznor’s HBO/BBC Worldwide Productions miniseriesYear Zero.

Based on the 2007 album by Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails, the concept recording criticizes the U.S. government -- specifically the Bush years -- and presents a dystopian vision of the year 2022. Reznor has already adapted the album into an alternate reality game.

Uhls, repped by CAA, penned the screenplay for Fight Club and Jumper.

Reznor most recently picked up the Academy Award for penning the original score, with Atticus Ross, to Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Network. He also composed the score for Sorkin’s upcoming adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

The epic sci-fi miniseries is a co-production of HBO and BBC Worldwide Productions.

Happy Birthday Amir Derakh!

Julien-K 07.09.2010 Session

Today one of our favorite guitarists turns 48. Amir Davidson most known by Amir Derakh is the lead guitarist in Julien-K and Dead by Sunrise. He’s also known for his inovative work with Orgy, for those who don’t know who they were I can tell you they were awesome, probably the best synth-rock band around in the 90’s early 00’s. He’s also a great DJ, most people will know him from Circuit Freq – a project he and FU (a.k.a Anthony Valcic) manage outside Julien-K.

The Hand that Feeds crew would like to wish an amazing b-day to “The Dark Prince” and thank him for all this years showing that a true rocker can last several decades still being ahead of the “competition”. A true inspiration as most people would say and a great person as we’ve heard about, plus a very talented musician.

Here’s some videos with our birthday boy:
